Danielle Downey Plays LPGA Tour for Third Year
The 2009 LPGA Tour season was challenging for Danielle Downey, who missed almost five full months of competitive play due to a hand injury in April. After recovering from surgery and rehabilitating her hand, she was able to rejoin the Tour in late August, making the cut in three of six events but finishing near the back of the field.
Danielle missed nine full-field events while injured (not including limited field events or majors that required pre-qualifications in order to play) and has been given entry to that same number in 2010 with the money ranking she had when she entered the 2009 season, which was 89. She must earn enough money in her first nine 2010 events to get to at least that same ranking in order to keep her full-time status on the LPGA Tour for the rest of this season.
While she understands she's got a tough road ahead, especially with fewer events on their calendar this year, Danielle is optimistic that she'll be able to perform well and will keep her playing privileges.
