Security Notice: Meltdown and Spectre Vulnerabilities

January 5, 2018

Recent news reports have identified two security flaws impacting microprocessors in nearly all computers, including servers, mobile devices, and personal computers.  These vulnerabilities, known as Meltdown and Spectre, have the potential, if exploited, to allow cybercriminals to gain access to memory locations that contain sensitive information including passwords and other encrypted data.

Paychex security personnel have thoroughly analyzed the threat and have no reason to believe Paychex’s systems have been compromised by either vulnerability.

Along with the protections offered by layered security defense mechanisms, Paychex is actively undertaking actions to ensure all systems are hardened against these security threats.

The safekeeping and security of client information is of paramount importance, and as such, the Paychex security organization is carefully monitoring this situation to ensure our clients and partners are protected from exposure related to these vulnerabilities and others that may arise.

Here's additional information about Meltdown and Spectre.
