Vice President, Information Security
With decades of experience in technology leadership and a track record of success in delivering collaborative solutions in all facets of IT infrastructure and operations, Jimmie Owens serves as the vice president of information security at Paychex. In this role, Owens is responsible for establishing and maintaining the enterprise vision, strategy, architecture, and a multi-year roadmap to ensure the protection of the company’s – and its clients’ – information, as well as physical business assets. Passionate about security being the responsibility of every employee across the organization, Owens is a proactive leader with a clear understanding of the relationship between information security, risk, technology, and market conditions.
Previously serving as the chief information security officer with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Owens led global information security efforts to ensure the security and integrity of strategic company information and the personal data of nearly two-million credit union members. Prior to that, he served as assistant vice president of information security for Navy Federal Credit Union, leading 18,000 employees and contractors worldwide.
Owens was named one of the top chief information security officers of 2018 by Security Scorecard and received the Navy Federal Presidential leadership award in 2012. He’s ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) certified and worked to obtain certificates as a CISSP (certified information systems security professional) and a CISM (certified information security manager). Owens earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College.
