John Connors

John J. Connors is vice president of software development at Paychex. In this role, he leads the design, development, testing, architecture, and automation of all Paychex applications. These applications support the company’s internal, online, and mobile products for human capital management, payroll, 401(k) recordkeeping, Insurance, time & attendance, applicant tracking, and tax. With a commitment to collaboration and values-based leadership, Connors has seen the software development team introduce major innovations that have been a driving force for an improved experience for Paychex customers. 

Connors has extensive experience in software development, spanning a large array of applications, methodologies, and disciplines. Under his leadership, the software development team has grown into a global team of nearly 1,500 employees, contractors, and consultants dedicated to ensuring world-class agile SDLC, architecture, automation, security, delivery, and quality. Connors focuses not only on what is built, but how it is designed, how it is tested, how it is secured, and how it is deployed. 

Connors holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a minor in accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He serves on the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) for the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT.
