In addition to the wage and hour laws that are part of the Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA), the State of California has its own set of laws that employers must comply with, including the California Labor Code, state regulations issued by the Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC), and local statutes which are often more stringent than federal laws.
