Repeal and Replace Bill Pulled - ACA Remains Law of the Land for Foreseeable Future
On Friday, March 24, 2017, Republican leaders abruptly pulled their proposed legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) from the House Floor due to a lack of the votes necessary to pass the bill, known as the American Health Care Act (AHCA).
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan held a press conference shortly after House proceedings were interrupted and the House went into recess. He stated that Obamacare is the law of the land for the foreseeable future and that the House did not have the votes to pass the AHCA. For now, Republican leadership has publicly stated its intent to move on from health care reform to tackle tax reform.
We’ll update this article with any new legislative initiatives by Congress or actions by the Trump administration that may have an impact on the ACA.
