Paychex Honored as a Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles
Award recognizes the company’s innovative wellness program that helps employees be as healthy as they can be.
For the fifth straight year, Paychex has been honored by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH) for its ongoing commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging its employees to pursue and maintain healthy lifestyles. Paychex, a leading provider of payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing solutions, received a Gold Award for its Active Health company wellness program.
In addition to the Gold-level honor, NBGH selected Paychex as the sole recipient of its Special Recognition Award: Best Communication Tactics, citing the company’s “innovative, technology-driven campaigns result in high employee engagement and continual support for a culture of health.”
“Part of what makes Paychex a great place to work is our commitment to helping our employees live healthy lives,” said Laurie Zaucha, Paychex vice president of human resources and organizational development. “Employees tell us they love our wellness program, the teamwork and camaraderie it promotes, and the fact that it has helped them improve their health while having fun. We’re very proud to be recognized as a leader in employee wellness.”
Paychex’s nearly six-year-old Active Health program has continued to evolve over the years and includes a nationwide network of more than 150 volunteer employee wellness champions, dedicated websites, interactive online tools, work-site wellness events such as flu shots and health screenings, a best-in-class tobacco cessation program for employees and their eligible dependents, and more.
In 2013, Paychex took the next step by rolling out an innovative program that harnesses the power of social networking and worksite camaraderie to help employees get healthier together. Teaming up with ShapeUp, Inc., the leader in social wellness, Paychex delivers a wellness experience that offers year-round online social networking, friendly competition, the convenience of mobile technology, fun, and on-the-spot incentives to build and maintain healthy behaviors.
Within just three weeks of launching the new ShapeUp platform earlier this year, nearly half of Paychex’s 12,000+ employees had signed up as registered site users. As ShapeUp noted in its blog, Paychex is “one of the most innovative companies around, and they’ve managed to engender one of the most active, engaged, and social workforces out there. They have set many ShapeUp records in the past year alone!”
Helen Darling, president and CEO of the National Business Group on Health, commented, “We are proud to honor Paychex for its ongoing commitment to providing lifestyle improvement programs that encourage healthy lifestyles for their employees. Paychex is among an elite group of organizations that are leading the way to promoting healthy workplaces and lifestyles.”
