Tech Company Rights the Ship on Payroll Compliance
When StratasCorp Technologies’ first HR Director Pat Iannatti came aboard, he found the wake left by three payroll providers in the previous four years. The company was growing and Pat needed to find a provider who could scale rapidly, handle payroll in multiple jurisdictions, and help StratasCorp with compliance.

"You can’t put a price on customer service. Paychex will think outside the box and say, ‘How can we make this work for you?’ Then they do what they say they’re going to do”
– Pat Iannatti, HR Director StratasCrop Technologies
Challenge
StratasCorp was managing tax filings and reporting in 35 states, and Pat Iannatti started receiving delinquency notices from multiple states for failure to remit taxes. Making matters worse: Some states were demanding a 10% penalty accompany the payments to bring the company’s account into good standing. These challenges ran parallel to the company’s growth spurt that saw 100 employees added to payroll in a two-year span.
How Paychex Helped
Paychex brought five decades of experience, the expertise of managing payroll in all 50 states, and its all-in-one HR solution, Paychex Flex®, that integrates payroll and taxes, provides real-time reporting and employee self-service so errors could be found and corrected in-house, and the ability to scale with the company’s growth.
Success Strategy
Prior to working with Paychex, Pat spent much of his time on administrative tasks; answering one-off questions from employees who needed to change something as simple as their address in the system. This took his focus away from strategic HR planning. Paychex made the transition fast and easy, filing the correct paperwork with every state and resolving the outstanding tax issues.
"We needed somebody we could call and ask questions …. We made a switch to Paychex, and we never looked back. It was the smartest thing we ever did."
– Pat Iannatti, HR Director
