Tom Hammond

Tom Hammond assumed the role of vice president of product and corporate strategy in 2017. In 2023, his role was expanded to include partnership and business development. A year later, Hammond was named managing director of strategy, partnership, and business development. 

With more than 30 years of experience at Paychex, Hammond now shapes and directs the execution and acceleration of the company’s strategic partnerships, business development, and future growth platforms.

In his time at Paychex, Hammond has been instrumental in delivering innovations that help entrepreneurs and HR leaders simplify the complexities of running a business by bringing to market powerful HR, payroll, benefits, and insurance solutions to more than 740,000 clients, allowing them to succeed in an increasingly competitive market. He has played a key leadership role in expanding the company’s HR technology and solutions continuum. 

Earlier in his Paychex career, he oversaw the creation of the company’s first flagship payroll application, CORE Advanced, and played an integral role in its evolution into Paychex Flex®, the company’s SaaS-based HR application. 

Hammond was named a Top 100 HR Tech Influencer by Human Resource Executive magazine in 2023 and again in 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, N.Y. Active in the community, Hammond serves on the board of directors for the Mary Cariola Children’s Center, a leading provider of education and life skills solutions that serve children and young adults with complex disabilities.
